Bari is the capital city of the Metropolitan City of Bari and of the region of Apulia, on the Adriatic Sea in southern Italy. It is one of the most important economic centres of mainland southern Italy. It is a port and university city as well as the city of Saint Nicholas. The city itself is the 9th-largest city in Italy with a population of 316,248, while the urban area has approximately 750,000 inhabitants. Its metropolitan province is the 5th-largest metropolitan city in the country, with a population of 1,218,073.

As you explore the city, you'll quickly notice the striking contrast between the old town and the new town. The old town, known as Bari Vecchia, is a maze of narrow streets lined with ancient stone buildings, while the new town is a bustling hub of shopping, dining, and entertainment.

One of the highlights of Bari is undoubtedly its stunning coastline, which stretches for miles along the Adriatic Sea. The beaches here are some of the most beautiful in Italy, with crystal-clear waters and soft, golden sand. Whether you're looking to soak up the sun, swim in the sea, or enjoy some water sports, Bari's beaches have something for everyone.
